Thoughts of a web dev, designer and SEO lover!

What I think about what I do…

Basically, I’m a happy web developer and designer with a love of ecommerce, SEO and online marketing and what I think is that this is one of the most exciting times there’s ever been to do my job and to help businesses promote themselves online.  The point is, you no longer have to spend a fortune, there’s plugins and templates, decent off-the-shelf packages and software, hosting for next to nothing, people throwing themselves at you left, right and centre to do your website.  I guess I’m no different in that I’d obviously love to do your website for you but I also have an absolute buzz for business development.  Your website is now crucial to your marketing but then so is your overall online presence.  Websites don’t cost the earth any more because of so much automation and pre-built, off-the-shelf stuff and that’s not a cop out, that’s effective money-management.  Save where you can so your money goes further.  That’s just common sense budgeting that you do everyday running your household.  I love my job but as a manager of my own business, I’ve got to manage time and financial resources in as slick a way as possible to make time and money stretch to everything it needs to. If you’re a business owner reading this then I know you do the same and from a web presence point of view, my advice would be to spend your time and money on site content and then traffic where your website is a tool and slave to your purpose.  That’s not saying to compromise how it looks, not at all, that’s part of making it the right tool, but it can look fantastic without high spending any more and the rest can then go on making sure everyone sees it!
